Hello Jaguar Families!

Here are the weekly updates for the week of 2/22/21.

Every ROAR matters! We value your opinion and encourage you to complete this short survey. Your anonymous opinion gives us feedback to improve SSMS, identifies things that are working well at SSMS, and helps us plan for the future. This survey will be open through 2/28. Click here for the survey or you can find it on your webpage, Facebook and Twitter. Thank you!

Parents of 6th and 7th graders- Course Card & Parent Night this week: We have our  Parent University Information Conference this week via ZOOM. See the attached flyer for specific dates and times and it is on our school calendar and social media. Your child received their course card on Friday 2/19 in their Science class and the card is due back by Friday 2/25 to their Science teacher. Please ask your child to share the course card they received in their Science class and take some time to review it with them. It does require a parent and student signature. There is a lot of information on this course card so please review it carefully and access all the videos provided in order to help your child with making selections for their 2021/22 schedule. Your students will receive a flyer on Monday 2/22 about our Parent University event and attached will be the QR code that you can scan to access the ZOOM for the event. You will be able to access the ZOOMs links on our homepage of our school website just prior to the event to maintain security of the ZOOM links. If you have any questions please reach out to your child’s school counselor. Ms. Batista, Mr. Hand and Ms. Hoefling.

New Walking Path from Bryant Square: Many of you are already aware that we are putting in a sidewalk that connects to the back of our school to the new neighborhood , Bryant Square (off of Little Rd). Currently that walkway is closed so students are not able to access this until the construction is completed. If this pertains to you please let your child know they can not walk to school until it is completed, which should be shortly. Thank you. We are excited to have this new sidewalk and safe pathway for our students to get to campus. It will be locked most of the time except for arrival and dismissal times.

COVID Reminders:  In order to protect the health of our employees, staff and students, students & visitors must self-screen for symptoms and other risk factors of COVID-19 daily. If your child answers yes to any of these questions they should not be on campus.  Student Self Screener Please remember, if you take your child for a COVID test, please communicate with our clinic (Mrs. Copeland or Mrs. Cefalu) and students are NOT to be on campus as they await their COVID test results. If they are well enough to continue with their learning, they can access ZOOM or continue working through myLearning and email their teacher with questions. A face covering is required on all school buses, in all District buildings, in all school buildings and during all school-sponsored events and activities. This requirement is applicable to all students and to all employees, parents, and visitors entering the buildings and/or attending a school event. The face covering must cover your nose and mouth completely. The SSMS staff continue to remind our students of the proper way to wear masks in class and as they move through our campus, if students do not adhere to these district policies progressive discipline will be implemented. We appreciate your support with reminding your students of these policies.

Thank you for your continued partnership. Have a great week.
