
Digital Visual Arts Progression
These courses are recommended for students interested in a career in digital art and design. This track also prepares students towards earning Industry certifications in middle school and high school. These courses prepare students for the Commercial Art and Digital Cinema Production programs and Wendell Krinn Technical High School and Business Technology Academy at J.W. Mitchell High School.

6th Grade Courses
Orientation to Career Cluster 8000400Z: (Sem.)
Students will gain hands-on experience while learning about various occupations involving 17 career clusters. This course will focus on marketing, sales, and services involving social media. Speech & Debate 1 1007025Z: (Sem.) Students learn the art of evidence-based discussion, how to form arguments, and learn the skill of public speaking.
7th Grade Courses
Intro Arts, AV 8209350Z: (Sem.)
Students learn combinations of videography, innovative writing, and public speaking to create marketing projects such as commercials and public service announcements for school functions.
8th Grade Courses
Digital Information Tech 8207310Z: (Yr.) Student learn business and information systems by working with different Microsoft applications. Students are expected to take an Industry Certification exam. Students must obtain FAST Reading PM3 Level 3 or higher, obtain a “B” or higher in language arts class,obtain a teacher recommendation, and took a CTE class with an “A/B” grade. An online application is required.
Fundamentals of AV and Print Technology 8260300Z: (Yr.) Students will use online application to create and design the school yearbook by producing digital imaging, writing, digital publishing, layout design, etc.. With hands on experience, students will work collaboratively with their assignments and production of the yearbook. Students must obtain FAST Reading PM3 Level 3 or higher, obtain a “C” or higher in language arts class, obtain a teacher recommendation, and took Intro to AV Arts class with an “A/B” grade. An online application is required.
