Florida Positive Behavioral Interventions & Support Project

A Multi-Tiered System of Supports that is proactive and allows all students to benefit from systems and structures that promote positive behaviors.

  • PBIS allows us to develop a common language, teach appropriate skills, and model appropriate actions for students.
  • Students need to hear 4:1 positive to negative comments to feel safe and supported and PBIS provides ways to be positive.

“If a child doesn’t know how to read, we teach.”
“If a child doesn’t know how to swim, we teach.”
“If a child doesn’t know how to multiplywe teach.”
“If a child doesn’t know how to drive, we teach.”
“If a child doesn’t know how to behave,
we…teach or punish?

Why can’t we finish the last sentence as automatically as we do the others?
