Business and Entrepreneurship Progression

These elective courses are recommended to students with interest or opportunities to participate in business, young entrepreneurs and/or financial systems. These courses will help student prepare and excel in the Business Technology Academy at J.W. Mitchell High School.

6th Grade Courses

 

Orientation to Career Cluster 8000400Z: (Sem.)

Students will gain hands-on experience while learning about various occupations involving 17 career clusters. This course will focus on marketing, sales, and services involving social media. Speech & Debate 1 1007025Z: (Sem.) Students learn the art of evidence-based discussion, how to form arguments, and learn the skill of public speaking.

 

7th Grade Courses

 

Computer Applications in Business 1 8200520Z : (Sem.)

Students will learn introductory keyboarding, introductory word processing, introductory electronic presentation, introductory computer hardware, introductory Internet, and soft skills for business applications. Instruction and learning activities are provided in a laboratory setting using hands-on experiences with the equipment, materials and technology appropriate to the course content and in accordance with current practices. This class is a prerequisite to Digital Information Technology class.

 

8th Grade Courses

 

Introduction to Business Administration 8370350Z (Sem.)

Students will learn entrepreneurship skills for starting and supporting their own business. Students will also learn to interview, complete resumes, accounting, marketing, and business computer skills.
