Adam Nigels, 7th grader from SSMS, wins the Regional award

StudentCam is C-SPAN’s annual national video documentary competition that encourages students to think critically about issues that affect our communities and our nation.

Students in grades 6-12 were asked to create a short (5-7 minute) video documentary exploring “The Three Branches and You”.  Students were to tell a story that demonstrates how a policy, law, or action by either the executive, legislative, or judicial branch has affected you or your community.

Adam Nigels, 7th grader from SSMS, won the Regional award from Bright House Networks for his C-SPAN documentary titled “ Poverty and Homelessness in America: How Government Policy affects the Poor in my Community.”  He produced an amazing video that highlighted a problem our communities face everyday.  He was awarded a cash prize from Bright House Networks for himself and the school.  The money is being used for technology in our school’s media center, “The Hub.”  Congratulations Adam!  Adam’s video can be viewed here Adam Nigels – CSPAN Student Cam 2015
